Voices UnBroken's main office is located in the Parkchester area of the Bronx, but our work takes us throughout New York City, from Hunt's Point in the Bronx all the way to Brownsville, Brooklyn.
Since 2000, Voices UnBroken has engaged thousands of youth who are in challenging life situations in creative writing workshops that develop constructive communication skills, are accessible, collaborative and professionally run. Participation in our workshops often gives our young people, for the first time ever, the communication skills and confidence they need to excel in the future.
Our Teaching Artists engage “hard-to-reach” youth: young people who are more likely to pick a fight than write a poem, young people who have so much to say that they say nothing, young people who are terrified that they will “do it wrong,” young people who are uncomfortable being in groups and will say flat out that they, “don’t do poetry.”

As an educator and organizer, I hope that this poem can be used and shared to celebrate the preciousness of our young folks, as well as offer support to any and all campaigns advocating for them and their communities..."
